How to Clean Around Eyes Safely
Some cats, especially flat-faced breeds, develop tear stains or discharge that needs regular cleaning.
How to Clean
- Use a clean, damp cotton ball or soft cloth
- Wipe gently from the inner corner outward
- Use a fresh cotton ball for each eye
- Use only lukewarm water or a vet-recommended eye cleaner
- Never touch the eyeball itself
When to See the Vet
Yellow or green discharge, squinting, redness, swelling, or cloudiness in the eye warrants a vet visit. These could indicate infection, injury, or other conditions. See our Cat Health guide.
