Kitten Care Basics
Welcoming a kitten into your home is exciting — and comes with unique responsibilities. The first year sets the foundation for your cat’s lifelong health and behavior.
Essential Kitten Care
- Nutrition: Feed kitten-specific food 3–4 times daily (see Feeding Guide)
- Vet visits: Initial exam, vaccinations, deworming, and spay/neuter discussion
- Socialization: Expose to gentle handling, sounds, and experiences during the 2–7 week window
- Play: Multiple short play sessions daily for development and bonding
- Litter training: Most kittens learn quickly — keep the box clean and accessible
- Kitten-proofing: Secure cords, small objects, toxic plants, and open windows
For first-time owners, our New Cat Owner Guide covers the complete setup.
